How to update Minecraft 1.16 to version 1.17

It has been over a month since the release of the long-awaited film Minecraft Renovation of Caves and Cliffs. Some new modules and elements paved the way for the game through upgrades. Three new gangs have been introduced: Oxolots, Sheep and Glossy Squid.

Version 1.17 is the first part of that Caves and Cliffs Update and 1.18 will be the second part. Although Mojang did not disclose a specific release date for 1.18, the developers made it clear that it would be released in 2021. Below is a step-by-step guide to installing minecraft 1.17 on supported devices.

Java version

Step 1: Open the official Minecraft starter. This must be the latest version.

Step 2: Go to the Installations tab.

Step 3: Click the new Reinstall button.

Step 4: Select version 1.17 and write a name for it.

Step 5: Go to the Play tab and click the green Play button.

Petrock Version

The Petrock version of Minecraft is available on many devices. Below are the steps to update the game in each of them.

Pocket version

Step 1: Start the Play Store.

Step 2: Search Minecraft.

Step 3: Find the game and click on it.

Step 4: Click the Green Update button. The update will soon start downloading and will be installed automatically as soon as the download is done.

Xbox

Step 1: Go to my apps and games.

Step 2: Search Minecraft. Then select More Options.

Step 3: Select Manage Games and Add-ons.

Step 4: Go to Updates and update the game from there.

PlayStation
If automatic updating is enabled, the game will most likely be updated. Otherwise, PlayStation users:

Step 1: Search for the game and select Options

Step 2: Players must then select Check for updates. The update will appear and be installed on its own.

Windows 10

Step 1: Start the Microsoft Store.

Step 2: Click the three dots in the upper-right corner. Then select Downloads and Updates.

Step 3: Find Minecraft by clicking on the “All Owned” section. Players can click on it and update from there.

Nintendo Switch

If automatic updating is turned off, Minecraft can be updated manually by following these steps:

Step 1: Select Minecraft and click “+” or “-“.

Step 2: Go to the “Software Update” section.

Step 3: Players must choose “over the Internet” and the update will be downloaded and installed.
