New Xiaomi Redmi K50 Gaming with 120W charging
The new Xiaomi Redmi K50 Gaming comes with Qualcomm’s latest top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and delivers incredibly fast 120W charging.
It is the first Xiaomi phone that, following a new partnership with Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team, will be available in a special limited edition of the phone that bears the brand and colors of the racing team.
As in last year’s K40 Gaming, there’s a pair of physical keys for gaming on the right side. The phone also comes with a tactile CyberEngine x-axis Xiaomi engine and JBL’s dual speakers. The phone has a metal frame while the back is made of glass.
For extreme use scenarios, Xiaomi developed a brand new dual steam chamber (VC) cooling system to keep the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and other components under control. It starts with a bronze system mounted just above the chipset. Xiaomi also used double sheets of graphite, stainless steel and mesh materials.

The Redmi K50 Gaming features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a 480 Hz touch sampling rate. The panel takes 10-bit colors and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. There’s a 20MP Sony IMX 596 camera at the front, while on the back there’s a 64MP Sony IMX 686 main camera, an ultra-wide-angle 8MP lens and a 2MP telemacro camera.

In order to keep everything open, there’s a 4,700 mAh battery with a 120W charge that Xiaomi claims it can fully charge in as little as 17 minutes. There was a demo on stage that showed that the phone needed 37 minutes to reach a full charge. Its software is the MIUI 13 version based on Android 12. The phone also has WiFi 6E and NFC connectivity.
The Xiaomi Redmi K50 Gaming comes in blue, silver and black as well as a Mercedes AMG F1 version.
The base model K50 Gaming with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 ROM costs $520. There’s a 12/128 GB version at $567 and 12/256 GB at $615. The limited edition Mercedes AMG F1 model with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage will be sold at $662.
