PlayStation 5 will be released in two versions

The Sony Playstation 5 features a simple exterior design as well as impressive specifications.

Sony made the surprise by introducing the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 where it will be released in two editions. The Japanese company has unveiled the new PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition. As for the second, as you can see in the central image, it does not have the 4K UHD Blu-Ray optical drive and is therefore expected to be cheaper.

In the live presentation on the PlayStation YouTube channel and in the user’s comments, the design does not seem to like everyone – something rather normal – but it is undoubtedly the “PlayStation” with the company following the safe path and based on the same design language.

Inside the console is a custom-made AMD processor, Zen 2 architecture, with eight cores with a operating frequency of up to 3.5GHz (variable frequency). The system RAM is 16GB in size and is of the GDDR6 type with the bus range being 256-bit. Memory bandwidth is 448GB/s.

A lot of attention was paid to the graphics processor and it was designed in collaboration with AMD and is rdna2 architecture with 36 compute units that will be clocked up to 2.23GHz (also variable frequency).

The innovative SSD has a capacity of 825GB and offers IO Throughput speeds of 5.5GB/sec (RAW) while compressed content amounts to 8-9GB/sec. The console has an NVMe SSD slot to extend storage while also supporting an external hard drive. Of course, the 4K UHD Blu-Ray optical drive is not absent.

Sony had already introduced the DualSense controller with adaptive triggers but tonight, alongside the console, it also showed us some of the accessories that can be purchased by those who ultimately invest in it: so there is a matching pulse 3D wireless headset, an HD camera, a media remote and a base for the DualSense controller.
