Shocking News for the Samsung smartphones in Russia

A major battle has been raging in recent days between Samsung and Russia. More specifically, the Russian judiciary decided to stop importing 61 Samsung smartphones as well as selling them on Russian territory.

It all started with a patent violation by Samsung Pay, which belonged to Sqwin Sa. a mobile payment platform from Switzerland. As is logical, Samsung Pay is found on too many devices, even on the top Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3. Samsung has already filed an appeal and for the time being the decision has not yet been made.

The damage, if the decision is finally implemented, is quite significant, since it greatly affects Samsung’s course in Russia. At the same time, the course of Samsung Pay, which currently owns 17% of mobile payments in Russia, will definitely be affected.

Of course, the news is not pleasant for even the big competitors, Apple Pay (30%) and Google Pay (32%), since according to experts the two services may also violate the patent of Sqwin Sa.
