The Neuralink new achievement impresses | Video

A major achievement was made known by Elon Musk’s neurotechnology company Neuralink, where in one last experiment a monkey had two wireless brain implants on its head. In a three-minute video released by the company, a male macaque is implanted by a chip on each side of his brain, playing the “Mind Pong” videogame.

In fact, the monkey achieves this by controlling the movements of the videogame simply by thinking and playing the game using its mind.. Elon Musk wrote on Twitter “Neuralink’s first product will allow someone with paralysis to use a smartphone with their mind faster than someone using their fingers”

Neuralink’s device records and decodes electrical signals in the brain using more than 2,000 electrodes present in the chip implanted in the brain’s motor cortex that allow movement to coordinate after a mental command. This may in future allow someone to use a computer, phone, or other electronic device only with their thinking.

Also in the next evolution of the system could be used to restore physical mobility through brain signals where they activate the muscles and nerves in the body.

San Francisco-based neuralink was founded in 2016 and aims to develop wireless brain implant technology for neurological diseases (dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc.) and paralysis (e.g. due to spinal injury) with the help of artificial intelligence algorithms, according to Reuters and the BBC.
